The 60-Second Beginner Guide
Do you remember playing "War" as a kid? This is the exact same thing, but for money! You get one card, the dealer gets one card. Whoever has the higher card wins! It requires zero skill or strategy. The only time you have to make a choice is if you and the dealer tie with the same card. The dealer will ask if you want to surrender or "Go to War". ALWAYS go to war! You double your bet, get one more card, and have a dramatic shootout to see who wins!
1. Setup
- 1Every player places a bet in their betting circle.
- 2The dealer gives exactly 1 card face-up to every player, and 1 card face-up to themselves.
2. How to Play
You instantly compare your 1 card to the dealer's 1 card.
If your card is higher in rank than the dealer's, you win immediately (1:1 payout)!
If the dealer's card is higher than yours, you lose your bet immediately.
If your card is the exact same rank as the dealer's, there is a TIE. This is where it gets fun. You have two options:
1. Surrender: You give up, lose half your bet, and the hand ends.
2. GO TO WAR: You must place a second bet equal to your first bet. The dealer will "burn" (discard) 3 cards face-down, and then deal 1 new card face-up to you, and 1 new card face-up to themselves.
Scoring
- •Cards are ranked exactly like poker, with 2 being the lowest and Ace being the highest. Suits do not matter.
Winning Conditions
- ✓Having a higher card than the dealer on the initial deal.
- ✓Winning the "War" shootout by having a higher card on the second deal.
