The 60-Second Beginner Guide
This is the poker you see in old western movies! It's incredibly simple. You are dealt 5 cards. You look at them, and if you like them, you bet. Then comes the fun part: you can throw away any cards you don't like (up to 3) into the trash, and the dealer will give you brand new ones to replace them! If you were dealt a Pair of Kings, you keep the Kings, throw away your 3 junk cards, and pray the dealer gives you another King! Once everyone gets their new cards, there is one last chance to bet, and then you show your cards. Best hand wins!
1. Setup
- 1Every player at the table pays a small "Ante" (a mandatory contribution) into the pot to ensure there is something to play for.
- 2The dealer deals 5 private cards face-down to every player. There are no community cards on the table.
2. How to Play
The first round of betting begins. Players look at their 5 cards and decide to bet, call, raise, or fold based on what they have.
Once the first betting round is complete, the "Draw Phase" begins.
Starting with the first active player, you can choose to discard up to 3 cards from your hand (or 4 if your remaining card is an Ace/Wild) and place them face-down.
The dealer will then give you replacement cards from the top of the deck to bring your hand back up to 5 cards.
After everyone has drawn their replacement cards, the second and final betting round takes place.
